welcome to christian fellowship

Michael McDavid

Application
Michael McDavid grew up in Paris, TN and now resides in Leitchfield, KY. He has worked with the youth at the Clarkson church of Christ for 15 years. He now works as the associate minister. Michael has been active in WKYC for the last 5 year and considers it to be one of his favorite places on earth. Along with his wife, Tara, and daughters Tessa and Micah, he makes camp a family affair. 2010 will be his first year as the director of the 11-13 week.

Words from the Director:

If you asked people what is the best thing about the 11-13 yr. old week you would get many different answers. Some would say playing Star Wars, some would say going to Mad Myrtles, I would say it’s our staff. Of course we would all be right. Weather you can’t wait to pop someone with a dodge ball in Star Wars, or all you can think about is who you are going to ask to Mad Myrtles, or you just love getting to know the great staff and campers, you will love doing it at WKYC 11-13 week.

A typical day will start out at the flag pole for the pledge and then off for a great breakfast. Your parents will be glad to know that you will be responsible for cleaning up your cabin after breakfast. We take this seriously, the judging is pretty fierce and you don’t want to lose. Then it’s off to bible classes. Part of our great staff is our great teachers. You will be sure to enjoy the classes and you’ll learn something weather you like it or not. After another great meal from our world famous cooks you’ll participate in a variety of activities. As was mentioned Star Wars (dodge ball with a twist) is a favorite. There is also swimming, crafts, kickball, etc. Evenings include devotionals, singing, and group activities with the whole camp. There are a few surprises at night at well. Ice cream Sundays, Smores around the campfire, and more. You’ll get in bed at some point and get ready to do it all over again.

As I mentioned I believe one of the best things about our week is the staff. We have the best group that will make your week even better. They’ll get right in there and play Star Wars with you. What could be better than popping your councilor in the face with a dodge ball, or dunking over your class teacher at the basketball goal in the pool? They will get to be your friends and they will be there if you just need someone to talk to.

If all this doesn’t cause you to want to come spend a week at WKYC then think about this. Everyone can use a week away from all the crummy pressures we deal with every day. A week with Christian people who what nothing more than to help you have the time of your life. It is not possible to spend a week here without making new friends. You will meet people you will keep in touch with the rest of your life. I’ve always heard the saying that a bad day playing golf beats a good day doing anything else. I say a week at WKYC beats a week anywhere else anytime. Notice I didn’t say a “bad” week at WKYC? That’s because there is no such thing as a bad week at WKYC. Join us and make some lifelong friends, have a great time, and grow closer to God.

Campers send those applications in soon! (We begin taking applications AFTER March 1st) I look forward to seeing you this Summer.
